Lester Rapaport
Lester Rapaport, b. 1947, Brooklyn, New York, studied at the Brooklyn Museum for many years and received a B.F.A. from Hunter College. He received the William Graff Scholarship for graduate study and went to the Hunter College graduate school.
His current series of paintings “A New Chapter” involves a visual vocabulary and emotional tenor which grew out of a prior four year series “Grief and After”. Death, spirit, and the cosmos are the background for simple ways of playing with color and paint application.
Rapaport’s work has been shown in Canada and the United States in solo and group exhibitions. He is in many private collections as well as the Johnson and Johnson corporate collection.
